When I read The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge was Bridge this is the first picture that came to mind. I took this photo a few years ago while driving over The Bayway Bridge in Florida.

Straight out of a Jim Jarmusch movie, South Of The Border is filled with racist overtones and conjures up all kinds of childhood memories for me. Located in Dillion South Carolina, the first time my son was old enough to notice it on our drive down South I promised him we would stop and buy Mexican Jumping Beans. Sadly the cashier told us they hadn’t had them in years.

I can’t imagine not looking up in a city like New York where your life literally can depend on it. A year ago, tragically a baby was killed by a falling brick from the crumbling building facade eight stories above from where her grandmother sat with her on a bench. There are too many of these stories in recent years. Fallen cranes, branches in Central Park etc. I never take for granted the dangers that do exist from above and try my best to remain aware of my surroundings at all times, that said there is also incredible beauty in the architecture here. I took this photo of The Ansonia yesterday with my iphone.

This is an old photo I found that I took with a phone – pre iPhone days. I wish the quality was better, but I think it still expresses the sentiment behind this weeks Weekly Photo Challenge Spare.
